Yallourn Hospital

I was born in the Yallourn Hospital - there wasn't one in Morwell in 1953.  I used to show Susan where I was born on our way to visit her Nan - and pointed to the Open Cut Coal Mine which eventually swallowed up the Yallourn Hospital.

I don't ever remember seeing the hospital myself, even though we went to Yallourn often when I was a child.

    I was born at Yallourn in 1964...
    I never knew it was Latrobe Community Hospital (thought that was just the name of the replacement hospital built in Moe) until I obtained my Great Grandfather's death certificate.

      Thanks for that info Gavin, I didn't know it was ever the Latrobe Community Hospital. My own Birth extract only says born at Yallourn, doesn't even specify hospital - but it is a very basic extract as issued in 1971.
